about

For the Glory of an Awakening Light

In gold, we tangle,
A subtle dance of furtive grace.
You, the radiant one,
My love, celestial embrace.

Daybreak whispers,
As darkness wanes.
Your warmth, my solace,
A symphony of gentle flames.

I reach for you,
Through azure vast.
My outstretched fingers,
Crave your tender grasp.

Our love, eternal,
A waltz of light and time.
An awakening glory,
In your brilliance, I shall climb.

Salik Abbasi, 2023

===============================================

Bloom was created as a vehicle to guide the listener to a calm pasture of serenity. Even when times are tough, the night will dawn and the sun will shine, the stage will reset, and a rebirth of ourselves can begin. This music started out initially as the leftovers sessions from (an upcoming album entitled) Scenes From The Apocalyptic Bliss (yes, I'm releasing them out of order), yet it has blossomed from there into the fruition of a full release. Time to release it into the wild.

I had a bit of a rough year last year (and beyond, actually), and while I love to mess around and constantly create music (even though, as evidenced, it takes me a LONG TIME to actually share it with the world), I desired to create some music that would personally belong to only me. This music was supposed to be just some sort of background music that allowed me to drift off and get past whatever was in my way. Well, the music grew every time I had a moment to sit down and mess with it. Eventually, everything started to develop a life of its own.

This music here is dedicated to some very major musical heroes that have passed, notably Neil Peart (to whom I dedicate 'Beyond The Limelight [Song For Neil]), and Eddie Van Halen (yes, I grew up a prog rock nerd metalhead and I did indeed have a mullet in the 80's, DON'T JUDGE!! Haha!).

Without a doubt this entire album is a tip of the hat to my larger-than-life influence and unbeknownst musical mentor: Vangelis. Vangelis was the second artist (after Tangerine Dream) that got me into music different from my teenage dirtbag musical indulgences. A friend gave me the album Ignacio (he let me borrow it, I told him that I lost it, yet I still have it!) when I was really going through a difficult time in my life. The music really spoke to me and gave me my single source of comfort and hope. I've really tried very hard on every release to make my music something that I wished that Vangelis would hear and say 'well, it's not bad!'. RIP, Maestro.

Peace.

PS Massive thanks to Marcus Miller of Holosuite Mastering for getting in touch with me almost a year ago so that we could work together on this. Dude, your patience with me is ridiculously admirable, there was A LOT of back and forth and you remained focused! Rock on, bro!!
